We didn't see it at its best as it was teeming with rain the day we visited, but nontheless the gardens were clearly lovely and the waterfall spectacular.

We visited Rydal Hall Gardens on a walk with our 3 dogs from Ambleside to Grasmere and weren't disappointed. My friend and I visited recently and got the wrong place, so have still to see Rydal Mount gardens which we’ve heard are stunning. Unfortunately living in Scotland doesn’t give us an option. The basis is there but they need a good deal more love and attention to do them justice. The lady who directed us to the gardens was very pleasant and friendly and advised us that the gardens are free, although there is a notice at the side gate saying they’re grateful for donations. My friend and I are both keen gardeners and are all for getting the balance between tidying up in the autumn and leaving food sources and shelter for the wildlife.
