The center received registration on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977. Since we live only about 40 minutes from DeSoto State Park (and were eager to try out the Seafood Buffet at the Lodge) we booked a "Primitive Camping Site" for one night. Our granddaughter enjoyed visiting the resident squirrel and bunny. In fact, we liked the Lodge's Restaurant so much that we decided to return, after packing up the tent, the next morning for breakfast.
