Turn right at the next intersection to stay on Panthertown Valley trail (flat until the last 1½ miles, then it’s uphill). The falls make a rough slide down several mini rock ledges and empty into a big, shallow pool. The trail soon reaches a fork, with the right spur leading down a short switchback lined with rail fencing to the upper viewpoint of the falls. If you happen to be staying at the campground near the Lake Rabun Beach Recreation Area, you can knock a couple tenths of a mile off this hike. If you’re planning to hike clockwise, you can reverse everything except for the instructions on the 3 spurs. You want to take the trail that steeply descends directly next to the falls. If you’re passing through on Lake Rabun Road, the trail starts at the small parking area and follows the campground to the base of the mountain.
