I had hoped for more; but evidently Haley was less inspired with this tale than his near-biographical `Queen', and Peter Werner III is no match for John Erman. A wonderful book, but how could it not be coming from Alex Haley. I finished my weekend with this book. A Great Read!
HIGHLY recommend to anyone who loves the "family" aspect of "The Godfather" series...(I think I've made that point already and the last sentence was redundant...oh well...deal with it people...I'm on my "PSMN"). Around the same time, Ruthana attends Fisk University.

She is the heart and soul of her family who, through faith and courage, drives herself, her children, and her grandchildren onward, determined to propel them to a better place. But he’s a ramrod-straight, emotionless pill. She discovers that Luke has graduated from law school and is joining the army. However, I still like the 1998 movie better than the book and appreciated the changes they made in the movie to make it a little more "family-friendly," but I also liked reading some of the similarities in the book and picturing the movie scenes too. To see what your friends thought of this book. I enjoyed it. Love Alex Haley...Queen is one of my faves...this one is a little more contemporary...still on the fence about this book. As part one flows into part two and the scene moves to the mid-1940s, ’50s and ’60s, lousy luck dogs Flora’s grandbabies. It was a great book, I have to admit I had seen the movie BEFORE i read the book, and I enjoyed them both VERY much. I enjoyed reading the book of "Mama Flora's Family" a gripping story about a woman's love for her family, faith in God, and being there for one another through trying times.
