She is a native of Henry County and graduated from Henry County High School in 1977.
She is the proud mother of three children, all HCS graduates, and a proud grandmother to eight grandchildren, too, with one more on the way. The focus on high stakes testing and school grades unfortunately coincides with less support provided to our K-2 students and teachers.
It is incumbent upon the School Board and superintendent to eliminate any policy that is discriminatory on its face or that gives way to discriminatory behavior. COVID-19 is a new issue in not only education but for the world. The team will discuss and emphasize practices that strengthen relationships and build a positive school culture. We need to promote the importance of our youngest learners attending pre-K in order to get a head start to learning letters and letter sounds before they get to kindergarten. The Henry County Board consists of 20 elected officials who represent two districts covering the County. The Henry County Board of Education is comprised of five members. I will also encourage the superintendent to seriously vet a property tax referendum to raise revenue for increased and sustained staff pay.
