We also liked this view of grand prismatic more than the view at midway geyser basin. Very quiet. After and through the meadow area you will pass quite a few thermal features which is really neat, but make sure to stay on trail. Start early.

Arrived at the lot ~930am and there were still plenty of parking spaces, but lot was full by the time I got back.

Great little walk(not so much of a hike).

Not much to see other than the falls at the end though we did not travel up the 2 lookout points. If you are a resident of another country or region, please select the appropriate version of Tripadvisor for your country or region in the drop-down menu. The waterfall was icy cold and Stunning!! It was definitely one of my favorite photographic subjects in Yellowstone. Can hike up the path to see the spring on the way there or the way back. Trail itself is mostly gravel and not so impressive (though perfect for getting a jog in at Yellowstone), but the trail leads to what are probably the most impressive areas of Yellowstone that are not insanely trafficked, Fairy Falls and the overlook to Grand Prismatic Spring. Once you go to falls and Geyser I recommend to go back to the split and then continue the rest of the way (you can make a loop to the lakes and bike path) through the meadow. Little muddy towards the end. After almost 0.6 miles, the trail to the Grand Prismatic Spring diverges to the left. It’s a nice easy hike to fairy falls which is a beautiful waterfall. 3.

We then hiked 0.6 miles until we reached a fairly obvious unmaintained trail on the side of the mountain. Beautiful waterfall.

You don't have to be especially fit or well equipped to reach the summit of the low hill and the view's far better.

Nice easy well groomed trail.

I actually caught the trail from the far end (3.4mi jog to the overlook) which took me past another thermal spot, and on the way back got to see a coyote. Ask outdoorventurer about Grand Prismatic Spring, A beautiful spring, from the right vantage point, Ask stillmanroad about Grand Prismatic Spring. Make sure to stop at the Grand Prismatic Spring overlook. 7. This trail is located in the western part of the park, with the trailhead south of Midway Geyser Basin. Nice little hike.

The hike is not for everyone. After visiting Old Faithful, we drove further north on the road, and stopped at the Fairy Falls parking area. Enjoy! My kids (7 and 3) were able to easily complete this trail. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, and nature trips. The runoff streams produce a rainbow of colors that are dependent on the temperature of the runoff water.
