A good flowing trail network will have most trails flowing in a single direction according to their intension. Del Valle Regional Park main gate and its area nearby are closed from Mendenhall Road on, but the Arroyo Staging Area is open with trail access.
The trail is primarily used for hiking, running, and nature trips. I wanted to do this hike because I believe part of this trail was part of a trail run course I did a few years back.

After .25 mile rejoining the East Shore Trail for a bit, where we again turn right onto the Swallow Bay Trail. The Arroyo Road Staging Area on the north side of the lake also offers parking, but visitors must hike to get to the lake. We'll enjoy the green hills on this

I recommend going early in the morning as it gets very hot and there isn’t much shade. GET BREAKING NEWS IN YOUR BROWSER. Go left at the next turnoff for Heron Bay Trail and complete a small loop back to East Shore Trail again; take East Shore a very short distance and turn left again for the last section of Heron Bay Trail.

Park It: Sutter Regional Shoreline worth trip however you get there The shorter hike turns left on the East Shore Trail, following it back to the parking lot. Wednesday’s new rules from the EBRPD are set to last through at least April 30. The long hike continues along the East Shore Trail for 1 mile to a right turn onto the single-track Swallow Bay Trail. On Tuesday May 19 the park was closed with rangers at the main entrance.

Pack out all your trash, including dog waste. The community offers residents many nearby attributes such as a top-rated school district, shopping, and access to the valley's freeways.
There’s not much shade on these trails, so I prefer to come during the winter months.
Also, please bring hand sanitizer with you while visiting the parks for use before and after opening gates or interaction with high-touch surfaces. Please use the Google Maps link above to familiarize yourself with the trip. The Heron Bay Trail has two distinct loops sections which branch and return from the East Shore trail. The problem is that with few other recreational and stress-relieving options, there has been serious overcrowding at many of the more popular regional parklands and trailheads.
