Lucky Foot and Paper Clip might not be the most useful items in the game, but at least Cain doesn't have to deal with that drawback.
Even when I have good runs going he's such a pain to keep alive. Other than that, it's the same as idea as wiz shot: You just have to adapt how you play a bit cause you shoot tears differently. With Swallowed Penny, Keeper can be made more survivable, though it's ultimately still very risky, as Swallowed Penny frequently spits the coin to a place where it's difficult to retrieve it, and when trying to dodge enemies at the same time, it can be close to impossible sometimes. Being able to have a second chance at usefulness from any disappointing pedestal means that RNG has a tough time keeping you from victory. And another power spike comes from rerolling multiple devil room items, or rerolling Angel Key Pieces into actual angel room items! As a final thing, don't treat this as me trying to put down a definitive, objective ranking of strength with all the characters. Seriously when I finally unlocked keeper, my 2nd run I beat Boss Rush, Hush, and the chest, and wondered how everyone finds him so bad. Finally someone giving respect to Samson. And hearts turning into flies can be a nice boost of damage.
please tell me there's a Lilith strategy I hate this goddamn character. Don't get a Holy Mantle, Dead Cat or an incredibly overpowered combination? Calling blue baby the worst character in the original is really really not true I would have ranked him above maggie, eve, samson easily back then.
With the incredible upsides of flying, high base damage, very useful black hearts and a short-range piercing high-damage low-charge-time brimstone, he can clear basements, caves, and even the depths alike with little difficulty, even with zero items. Making precise movements to aim is nigh-on impossible when the source of your tears is trailing behind you, and without spectral tears, it can be highly frustrating to get Incubus to shoot through rocks.
You could potentially get Sacred Heart + Polyphemus but you could also get Poop + Cursed Eye. Let's discuss it! He has base Isaac's stats, but with two small bonuses: A starting pill (which can be good or very, very bad), and with a revive that sets your health to 1 red heart. With a reasonable base health, good speed and poor base damage, he does become somewhat reliant on Bloody Lust to carry him to good items. Such a hard question). The unseated king of consistency, Isaac has definitely felt his power falter. Samson also benefits hugely from the new sacrifice room mechanics, as they provide him with a way to lose his HP constructively, even if this does mean chipping away at his soul heart wall. His big strength is his damage - fantastic as it is and pushed even further with the Book of Belial which makes taking out bosses a cinch.
Eve has less hp and a difficult-to-use Dead Bird, but has an advantage in that any devil room or max-hp reduction will, by default, give her Whore of Babylon permanently active, and the Whore is stronger than it was before. Easily the worst character in the original (due to being a joke character), he is no longer the least consistent, but is definitely harder than most, just due to the heart inconsistency. Cain is actually one of my favorite characters simply because his is 1.2x. Without anything solid or reliable with this character, he's easily one of the most susceptible, ironically, to pure bad luck. Maggy has no outstanding benefits and one serious demerit, which is her low speed. No matter how much damage you stacked up, it could all be taken away from you in the blink of an eye if you ever so much as looked at the RNG funny. Slightly better than an itemless character, but not too great. Judas's damage bonus is good but he still struggles in the early game due to his dangerously low health, which puts him below Azazel, Isaac, Samson, Eve, and Lost, who start off much safer than he does and are guaranteed to get much more powerful later on. What items with Lilith? Ya the nerd hurts him but he's still great. He is easy to consistently win with due to how powerful he is to start with, and how well he scales with almost any statistic. His three initial black hearts make it so that getting a deal with the devil on floor two is all but guaranteed, and the fact that he can still make use of the many health ups in the boss pool mean that it's a rare occasion when he isn't able to get any item he wants from it as well. I have the post it filled on hard with a lot of characters, including the lost (I love me some devil deals), but I just can't seems to work with the range of azazel. What this is not: "Favorite characters" or "Potentially strongest characters, given perfect circumstances". Lazarus is a character who truly has no upsides. With Isaac an argument can be made that he should be #1 instead of Azazel, but I personally just find Azazel runs more fun. only has the advantage of 5% more damage. Any characters who you think are underrated and who have strategies that can help you win more consistently with them? 3: Judas. I will agree the the D4 is useless, but I don't think it really matters that much. A character with base stats, no huge bonuses and no real negatives. I don't think Eden can be placed anywhere there. Judas doesn't need much to pick up in the mid-to-late game, though he does need some help with his DPS, HP generation, and manoeuvrability, all of which used to be all but guaranteed in his devil deals but are now locked away from him. Able to two-shot a Lord of Flies and burn down a Dingle quickly, he can even deal with the small ghosts that The Haunt puts out and do a lot of damage to the boss itself safely and quickly. I really don't understand why ??? Now, after all this I suppose I may as well go through my own tier list: Bit of bias since I really like Azazel, but really I haven't ever had a bad run with him. When I sucked at WoTL it was with Cain that I finally started improving and he's always been special to me because of that. I can tell you in normal I would consider him a contender for the best. Like reaally really bad. Reroll! Both are pretty mediocre, all things considered; the revive is same-room, which means he has a permanent small buffer to finish games or eke out a victory with, and the pill doesn't seem to average a positive of negative net effect, so I feel safe in disregarding it as an influencing factor. The stats are also very unreliable. #3: Samson. Starting next to a curse room is ideal to immediately get WoB then abuse her damage and to avoid losing hp on the first and second floor and then cash down to one heart/no hearts with the most op item you can find in the devil room. I guess people are still down because he was so bad in WotL. #4: Eve. This is coupled with a lack of flight, making dodging significantly harder, which means that the first two floors with Judas are bound to be tense.
Also, The Lost just isn't THAT easy to finish a run with.
