You WILL get wet on this hike, so don’t be afraid to hike in your water filled boots lol (our LOWA boots did great).
The hike arcs north at 1.2 miles, passing several trailside campsites and reaching the site of an old homestead, where the skeletons of several antique trucks sit rusting in the green, damp forest.

As others have said, trekking poles really are a must. And bring a bathing suit because there are several places to spend some time in the water.
Emery Creek Falls Trail is a 9.5 kilometer moderately trafficked out and back trail located near Eton, Georgia that features a waterfall and is rated as moderate. Wear some good hiking shoes and poles may be a plus. Your shoes will get wet. When I did I was surprised at this sight.

Stay on the marked trail, tell someone where you're going, pack safety and wayfinding essentials, and don't rely on a mobile phone to find your way. Super fun trail, but def bring your water shoes. Beautiful hike with 26 creek crossings, pretty nice rock scramble, wild flowers, birds, beautiful scenery and falls!

We hiked just about 7 miles (total in & out) with 14 creek crosses each way. A side trail departs the left at 3 miles, dropping elevation for a view of the double cascades of the upper waterfall. Trail is VERY poorly marked.
Normally I try will all my might to avoid stepping in water on hikes.

During a little rain break I took a walk down to check out the creek. I wore my regular hiking boots and wool socks --- I was fine.
The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible year-round. We worked our way up creek on the left side, climbing over boulders, pressing through thick brush, up and down the steep side of the hill, until we realized the trail was actually on the other side and doesn't cross the creek until .3 miles. The lower Emery Creek Falls is a 60-footer with a nice pool at the bottom.
You’ll be crossing lots of creeks. This is a popular spot during warm weather.
Dogs are also able to use this trail. We found our way back over the creek, hiked up to the trail, and then it was fine the rest of the way. The trail follows a ridge along Holly Creek, catching glimpses of waterfalls and whitewater on the trail’s left far below. This trail was great.

This is the best hike I’ve ever been on ! Expect to get knee deep in some water. But other than that it’s amazing . All in all, a fantastic hike! Hiked this today with BMTA hiking group!

Beautiful hike to Emery Creek Falls. Like the other reviews say, be prepared for a moderate intensity and to most likely get your feet wet. This trail is maintained thanks to the hard work of countless volunteers and donations from supporters of the Chattahoochee National Forest. And before you go, always check the trailhead kiosk, official maps, and the park or ranger office for notices of changed routes, trail closures, safety information, and restrictions. The trail will NOT be marked in the beginning so be very mindful and observant when making your first crossing over the river. We went to the Emery Creek trail and it did not disappoint! I was working on a bridge over the creek and for two days I did not go to the north side [ southbound side]. Well marked at Creek crossings with green spray paint on i trees. Amicalola Falls is the tallest waterfall in Georgia. Really pretty, fun trail.
The trail sometimes turns in to a rocky creek beds so just go with it ;) HIKING POLES are KEY and a MUST on this trail. Well, this hike has at least 10 creek crossings each way and you just have to make up your mind that you are going to forge through the water.

Ran into a few other hikers on the trail or camping up by the falls but for the most part it was a peaceful hike. If he can do it, we all can! The hike reaches the convergence of Emery Creek and Holly Creek at .3 mile, the first, and often most difficult, of many creek crossings on the hike. Using wool, the water would drain off eventually and, though my feet were wet, it wasn't much more than what they be with normal sweat. You have to cross 11 different water crossings and it’s fun . The rocks aren’t as slippery as they look.
Wear water shoes or some you just don’t care about getting wet!

tried hiking up and down stream but no good spots. Not super well marked at the first creek crossing, but otherwise marked pretty well. You can cross just after the swiftest part passed the Large boulders. We had a great time on our first 5 mile hike. Bring your water shoes!! The hardest part is crossing the creek the first time. Always pack emergency essentials. The trail is a refreshing, water-filled adventure, and especially fun in Georgia’s sweltering summer months: along its scenic length, the trail splashes through 20 creek crossings to the tumbling cascades of Emery Creek Falls. If you have poles, bring it. The trail crosses a wide tributary creek at 1.45 miles before departing the road bed and turning right on a green-blazed trail at 1.55 miles. Once you get across the first creek Crossing, which is deep, the rest are easy-going and fun. Multiple Creek/River crossings, gorgeous wooded trails, obstacles, beautiful water falls and mild to medium inclines and declines. place to bring and eno as well. Please choose a different date. Wow what a great hike.
Having heard that the Emery Creek Trail is not always well-marked and that there are several creek crossings, we made a mistake right at the beginning and headed down to the creek at the trail head, not knowing that the actual trail went off the the right. Always leave no trace, pack out everything you pack in, and if you see trash, pick it up and pack it out. Plan on getting your feet wet. Once you are on the trails you will start to notice that the trail does have markers on the trees.

A little overgrown . Definitely wear shoes with with traction that can get wet because you WILL cross the creek a minimum of 10 times. 16 creek crossings total! When the creek’s flow is normal, there’s really no easy way to cross without getting wet. Loved it!
Leashed dogs are allowed on this trail. Through it’s winding trails and 20 creek crossings, it is all worth it to view two of Georgia’s most secluded waterfalls.
Hiking poles a must. We stopped twice for water and rest on a couple of the inclines. It can be steep! He had to be carried over the streams but otherwise he wanted to lead the way! Unfortunately, the creek was waist-high, with rushing water and rocks very slippery, so my husband and I chose not to continue the hike (a very tough decision since we were up for the adventure, but necessary for our safety). (Since submerged rocks are often slippery, we try to plan a route through the sandy stream bed and pack our camera gear and electronics in a dry bag.). The waterfalls at the end were great.
