Readers familiar with Dunn's honest and humorous writing will appreciate the behind-the-scenes look at her own semi-messy family life, and those who need guidance through the rough spots can glean advice while being entertained—all without spending lots of money on couples’ therapy.

Many things I could hear my own mom saying, which was very refreshing. When you lose your mom (assuming you were close), you'll probably feel desperate to feel a sense of connection to her again. An illustrator I love recommended it and I knew I had to read it. There are no discussion topics on this book yet. And that's why I think reading this after the loss is the wrong way around. influencers in the know since 1933.

This book made me laugh and made me cry a little; mostly, it made me feel like maybe I'll someday be functional in a world without my mom. It’s also a poignant look at loss, love, and taking things one moment at a time. In a combination of memoir and advice that can be found in most couples' therapy self-help books, Dunn provides an inside look at her own vexing issues and the solutions she and her husband used to prevent them from appearing in divorce court. I was choking up by the second page, and had full-on ugly-crying face by the end. Combining Suzy's wit and heartfelt advice with Hallie's quirky and colorful style, What to Do When I'm Gone is the illustrated instruction manual for getting through life without one's mom. Somehow this pacified some of my constant terror about losing my own mother (who is perfectly healthy but whom I depend on, still, despite the fact that I am now a mother myself...), I loved this idea. So the idea of this book, a how to move forward manual from your mom, that's a really appealing idea. I really treasure every comment... whether it just be a hello or a deeper thought. For such a deep subject it was lacking depth and real feeling. To Mississippi and today to Kansas.

I might still be a little annoyed by it. It also analyzes reviews to verify trustworthiness.
