And no character has deserved it more. The two sources suggesting that Hannibal is anything less than a gentleman aren't exactly what I would call trustworthy. I'll take your toilet. tv spoiler She's become a liability. Her relationship with Hannibal, personal and sexual, should have disqualified her as a candidate. Mason can still “technically” father a child. Because of that, being in prison and being free isn’t such a big difference for him. A character I don't see come up in discussion a lot is Alana Bloom, when she does come up, it's usually under her criticism of her blindness to Hannibal's manipulations. Francis Dolarhyde does this by killing happy families. Let’s not forget how shit Dr. Bloom was at choosing men. That’s most of the battle right there. A less worthy cause. so we didn’t get that cracking, resentful, overtly aggressive dialogue that we got in previous interations of their interactions. I don’t buy the rhetoric that Will needs to kill Hannibal or risk becoming him either based on evidence from the first two seasons that suggest the opposite. They are colleagues and friends. This doctor is legit still alive and kicking. Francis Dollarhyde represents the apex of what can go wrong with art. I wasn’t really feeling this episode all that much. Alana has been willfully unaware of a few things and reckless in some others. So it is no surprise that Chiyoh is an ally to Hannibal as well. I don’t like that. As many of you might know, Freddie gets killed in the books and movies. Which at this point I would be a little disappointed if he didn’t. She was already under emotional toil for trusting Will, then having that trust seemingly broken. We also know that that getting his wish isn’t going to do all that much for him since Lecter will never play Dr. Chilton’s game. The biggest similarity between Will and Hannibal at the moment, besides their brilliance, is that they both live in their mind. The fact that she let her emotions could her decisions and refused to help Will anymore not only disappointed and betrayed Will, she disappointed and betrayed the audience who had such high hopes for her.I mean, she is only human, and it is that fact of human nature that Bryan Fuller shows to be person's weakness and we see those characters as being blind and stupid because of it (Jack, Alana etc). As for the new object of her affections being Alana Bloom? Trying to tame it by surrounding himself with the love he never received as a child. Which reminds me. Funny thing about Will Graham, although he has become synonymous with Hannibal, the truth is that Graham was only in one book. Surprisingly, Chilton wears his scar with surprising dignity. A character I don't see come up in discussion a lot is Alana Bloom, when she does come up, it's usually under her criticism of her blindness to Hannibal's manipulations. This episode of Hannibal had all the fragmented feel of episode 4. So unwrapping all of this was quite a treat and I didn’t even mind a couple of the stupid parts. So here is a creature with no sympathy. This was such an exciting development. I’m looking forward to seeing the differences between the show, movies, and book when it comes to this character. What we didn’t know are all the details that this show is so good at. Will the hunter is also more dangerous than anyone else on the show with the exception of Hannibal. So it is a brilliant twist they have going here if Hannibal actually goes through with killing Alana. Voice alone can bring you very close to him. I feel like we are just very disappointed in her character. Given that, I think Jack's silence on the matter is completely understandable. And I don't see why Will and Jack would let her in on the fishing trip as well. That something else is a deadly idea hatched from one of histories most influential yet not so spoken about creators, William Blake. We also had a little glimpse of what is going to happen once all these characters start getting in the same room with each other. You see, these two share one very common interest: not capturing Hannibal, but killing him altogether. Chiyoh adds absolutely nothing at this point other than an excuse to shoehorn another attractive woman into the story. Being a mentor to psychos feeds his own need for chaos. When you think of trajectory you are rarely watching for the destination. As he said, surviving Hannibal is a feat in itself and he did that. If there is a 100% true depiction of a character from the canon, it is Chilton. Great casting of the Reba McClane character by the way. And Thursday night's episode "Aperitivo" proved to be yet another appetizing main course when it revealed that Alana Bloom is not dead on Hannibal after all. No one in this show will ever be the same. Hannibal is the big bad wolf of course. Something that was very entertaining for Hannibal. Will Graham captured Hannibal Lecter in every other medium but the TV show, where Hannibal was the one to turn himself in. Hannibal doesn’t want to “kill” Will Graham, he wants to “eat” him. I won’t expect much more than I’ve seen but for the first time that I can remember Alana Bloom has been put into a position where her character will be both powerful and interesting. The new blood thirsty pitbull is a refreshing change from the naive, emotional, not so intelligent woman from the first two seasons. That’s when we realize that this is all happening. The change and involvement of Dr. Bloom has not lived up to the potential that it should have. Hannibal tolerates his incarceration by escaping into his memory palace as he told Will he was going to do in the second season. The Italian authorities were then able to arrive just in time to stop Hannibal from peeling open Will Graham’s skull then handed him over to Mason Verger. Especially since we only have 8 more episodes left with them. He had so much more going for him than he did in the book or movie. It is also nice to see Jack be something other than a stubborn, incompetent, dick. We still don’t really know what Will wants. Dr. Du Maurier - Dr. Du Maurier reveals that she knows what Lecter is because she killed her attacker under Hannibal's influence. I wouldn't necessarily say "unfortunate", doesn't look like it. At this point it feels as though set-up has taken up most of the season. [tv spolier] (#t "Instead she does a 180 and falls into the arms of the man Will accuses of being a serial killer."). Freddie Lounds: We're co-conspirators, Will. Several sociopaths sought him out when he was a shrink and he stretched their view of reality until they saw things as they wanted to see them. A lot of people don't realize that she isn't just some stupid girl that wandered into their lives. They will of course succeed and in the process Hannibal will manage to get himself captured by the F.B.I and we will finally get us some Red Dragon.
