Skip the first few campsites close to the base camp entrance so you can have more seclusion, and fall asleep to the sound of Dodd Creek’s rushing waters. Cradled in the hills of the North Georgia Mountains overlooking beautiful Lake Rabun, this developed recreation area offers camping and hiking. There is a hiking trail, kayaking/canoeing launch, paddle boat rentals, camping area, and even a 3 segment zipline course (all three were fantastic)! The path can be slippery and injuries and fatalities have happened in the past. Highly recommend! It’s the best of both the primitive camper’s and the glamper’s worlds. The raven cliff fall is appropriately named, "falling" between two cliffs, almost like it's contained by them. Raven Cliff Falls is home to black bears, squirrels, deers, ruffed grouse, turkeys, and raccoons. The falls at the end of the trail are gorgeous.

It's my go-to. There are a couple reasons why it’s one of the most visited cascades in all of Georgia. A few of the waterfalls along the way are easily accessible with clear paths and some are a bit tedious to get to, there aren't any clear paths to get to them so you are left having to make a path of your own if you wish to reach the base of the falls. My wife and I hiked this trail in early April, and with recent rainfall the creek/falls were beautiful. It’s 2.5 miles one way, but you might forget how far you’ve gone because the shady hardwoods, moss-lined paths, and wildflower-edged trails make the trek so enjoyable. After returning to the main trail, a few more switchbacks and a couple of ladders will take you to the suspension bridge across the top of Raven Cliff Falls. As you near Raven Cliff Falls at the end of the hike, you'll hear the sound of rushing water. We were told that if you keep going up you can climb some vines, walk around and look down into the fall. Took us about three hours with a stop for a snack!

At the base of the falls, there is a small swimming hole where you can sit under the rushing water to cool off after your hike.

These North Georgia cascades are located in the Raven Cliffs Wilderness of the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest. There's a swimming hole at the base that's pretty shallow and it's a great area to wade in the water and chill. This waterfall is different from most others because the water rushes out from a large crack in the side of the cliff.

Several trees nearby are ideal for hammocks, too.

I've heard that this hike is very popular and can get crowded, but hiking on a Sunday morning at 9am was pretty quiet.

Campers should be aware that it’s common to see all these animals despite the high rate of human foot traffic. Think these are at least a moderate difficulty.
