. Fans and newcomers alike will find this book irresistible. I put Ash in the later category.
Ash is James Herbert’s most controversial novel, and will make you wonder what is fact and what is fiction. In his final published novel before his death, James Herbert returns with his third novel featuring David Ash, the sometimes skeptical and haunted psychic investigator.
Longer than both the earlier Ash novels combined, the book justifies its page count by offering a gripping mixture of paranormal and traditional thriller elements.
Peaceful village life shattered. Also, big freaking reveal - as soon as they say early on that he's a hemophiliac, you know it's going to be a royal with the way this has been going so far. In between, there are plenty of surprises, including the solution to at least one famously unsolved disappearance that has haunted the world since the mid-1970s. It's a nerd's dream. Long, quite massive in fact, about the size of the first two Ash books combined, this was a bit slow to start, but once it picked up the pace, it moved along at a nice speed. Reviewed in the United States on December 31, 2016, Interesting character development; pace of plot just a little beyond belief, almost too fast to the point where any real human would have dropped dead half way through, Reviewed in the United Kingdom on July 17, 2019. What a great ending to a spine chiling trilogy. Nothing much new or creative here.
The city is torn apart ... Man versus rat—the balance of power has shiftedThe long-dreaded nuclear conflict has come.
An incorporeal power has been ignited by a long-ago curse, fed and now unleashed by the evil of those who once inhabited this supposed sanctuary – and by some who still do. Infamous people thought long-deceased. HONESTLY. Hai inviato la seguente valutazione e recensione. First let me start by saying the previous David Ash books were excellent, and without out James Herberts books I would have not been tempted to pick up a book as a teenager. Try to read all three consecutively to learn all about David Ash, his history and his talent. We’d love your help. But there are so many flaws. This was actually the first James Herbert book I read meaning I ended the Ash stories before even starting them. Herbert clearly intended to channel public anger at the way the superrich insulate themselves from reality, and in this, he succeeds, especially given the recent revelations about how the British royals meddle in politics to their own benefit.
(also spooky reference to Maggie Thatcher within the book who also died whilst i was reading it!!). Ti ringraziamo per il feedback. We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others.

Rent and save from the world's largest eBookstore. One of James Herbert best in my opinion. Please try again. David Ash, ghost hunter and parapsychologist, arrives at Comraich Castle – a desolate, ancient place with a dark heart – to investigate a series of disturbing events. Vai allo store Stati Uniti per continuare. It's sad to think that there will be no more David Ash adventures, with Mr. Herbert's passing, but if a series had to end, this was a pretty good ending to it.
I thought the mix of horror and politics was believeable and made for the right flavor of the book.
But overall satisfying for fans of Herbert.
I've devoured his books like his rats devoured humans. Alas, Ash is a fun 250-page romp trapped in the binding of a 700-page behemoth. Sembra che tu sia in Stati Uniti. I actually didn't realise this was part of a series, but apart from some references, it did well as a stand alone book.
Highly recommended. The tension and horror never let up. The book opens with the thoughts of a dying Princess Diana--her connection to Comraich isn't revealed until near the end--and trundles rapidly downhill into mayhem punctuated with bouts of sex and swathes of irrelevant detail. Entertaining and gripping read. Terror will keep you there.
He's a good spinner of a yarn.

David Ash – detective of the paranormal – is sent to the mysterious Comraich Castle, secluded deep in the Scottish countryside, to investigate a strange, high-profile case: a man has been found crucified – in a room that was locked. Very fun read, another reminder of what a great talent the world in general and horror genre in particular lost.
As his last Novel, James delivered a whooping novel, which built to an incredible cruscendo.
