Similarly to my favorite film, Brief Encounter, the romance in Harold and Maude is about their souls, about a connection that is more than just sexual attraction. You might recognize Tyner from Cool Hand Luke where he played the sadistic prison guard. Agree with all the reviews that hail this film as a sleeper classic. It’s “a matter of life and death” that you watch this movie ASAP. A true American Classic in the best sense.

Harold and Maude. I believe you have to have a little bit of a dry sense of humor but as I watched it tonight I was LOL once again. Harold and Maude was the first film to play followed by King of Hearts. I know, with Valentine’s Day and all that this month, people will be turning to romance. If you’re unfamiliar, Harold and Maude, made in 1971, follows a young rich teenage boy, Harold (Bud Cort). Unfortunately, Amazon streaming has determined that the ending credits, part of the magic of this great movie's ending, isn't available to their viewers. Where one is absent, so is the other, neither able to exist in isolation without the other. He’s obsessed with death and has great fun creating upsetting suicide scenes for his mother (Vivian Pickles) to find, though she is unimpressed most of the time.
