Both eventually joined the Winchesters. From there, Castiel annoyed the hell out of the Entity and was allowed to return to earth. Meanwhile, Sam continues to work with Jack on learning how to control his powers.

After witnessing that, Sam proposes that they take Jack back to the bunker with them, and Dean agrees. I love this show as a whole, but this season was pretty weak. And that brings us to the end of season 13. The boys seem to show up at just the right time, and get him locked in a cell.
