These grassy, shrubby prairies dotted with cypress islands offer great opportunities to see alligators and wading birds. It will cost you a few bucks for the overnight, but it is money well-spent. The boys fished some more while Chip and I struck the tents, packed up and loaded the canoes and we set off for home - this time we made it in about 1 1/2 hours back and avoided most of the rain that day.
