The longest straight road in the world Highway 10 has the dubious honour of boasting the longest straight section of road in the world and, judging by Google Earth, the most boring. The main reason behind the danger of crossing this region via the highway is its sudden elevation. The proposal has been acted about a couple of times.
Constructed in the year 1936, the Pan-American Highway is a web of roads stretching across the continents of North and South America. In your description of the route from Prudhoe Bay, Alaska to Key West, Florida, you list Google Map’s estimated travel time of 4 days, 15 hours. This area of undeveloped swampland, forest and mountain straddles the border between Panama and Colombia. No account of the Pan-American Highway would be complete without a discussion of its missing link, the Darién Gap.
